William (Bill) Allen Christensen was born on November 25, 1942, the son of James and Mary (Kurschner) Christensen of Baron, Wisconsin. Growing up in Wisconsin Bill and his family were naturally Brewers and Packer’s fans. They would pack a picnic lunch, drive to the city on Saturday to watch the Brewers, spend the night and then go watch the Packers on Sunday! Thankfully he eventually became a Viking’s fan.
After high school Bill moved to the Clarissa, Minnesota area where he began working various jobs, mainly in the printing press business. Over the years he got to meet many of the local community members, one of them being the sister of Mrs. Gloria Hauer. William and Gloria became friends and were united in marriage on March 24, 1970. This union would bless Bill with two children, Jeff and Tammi, and soon a baby girl Jill would make them a family of five. Bill took on the job of “Dad” naturally and was so caring and patient with his new family and he raised his stepchildren and loved them as if they were his own.
Bill had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. He never liked to ask for directions though which made family trips interesting when he would dig out the map and say “there must be a shortcut somewhere.” He used his hard work ethic to provide for his family. When Bill was not busy working, he joined a local bowling league and played softball and never said no to a game of cribbage or cards. This caring human being, with his cigar in his front pocket will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
On Saturday, October 16, 2021, Bill joined Gloria in heaven, at the age of 78. He is survived by his children; Jeffry Hauer, Tammi (Joe) Brisson and Jill Olson; grandchildren: Josh Hauer, Jay Brisson, Scott Hauer, Bo Olson, Kari Hauer, Ann Mathieu, Amy Brisson, Ashley Olson and Kim Thompson; 17 great grandchildren; sibling: Rosemary (Tom) Olson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents James Sr and Mary; son-in-law Mike Olson; siblings: James “Buck” Christensen Jr. Sister Ginger Hammelman and brother-in-law Richard Hammelman.
