Violet (Kaluza) Holmquist Obituary

Violet was born March 5, 1925, in Burleene Township, Todd County, to George & Alvina (Marten) Kaluza.  On October 4, 1944, she married Lloyd Holmquist; they farmed together until retirement.  Violet was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and release time for many years and was active in the ladies’ aid.  Violet was a 4-H Leader, a member of the Clarissa Sportsmen’s Club and the Germania Community Club.  Violet worked farmers markets for 15 years in Nisswa, Sauk Centre, Hewitt, Long Prairie, Verndale and Staples.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and seeing that everyone had plenty to eat.


Violet is preceded in death by her parents and husband Lloyd in 1994.  She is survived by her son Allen (Patsy) Holmquist of Clarissa and grandsons:  David (Cheryl) Holmquist, Peter (Jeri) Holmquist; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
