Teresa Lynn (Leagjeld) Hayes

Teresa Lynn Hayes, of Alexandria, formerly Browerville, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was 53 years old.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Iten Funeral Home Chapel in Browerville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery. A time of socializing will continue at the funeral home following the burial.

Teresa Lynn was born on April 12, 1969, the daughter of Thomas and Mavis (Petrie) Leagjeld. She was born in Browerville and grew up on her parent’s farm in rural Long Prairie, she attended Long Prairie High School. From a young age, Teresa had a great love of animals and poetry, she wrote many beautiful pieces. Teresa spent time working for Super America and Stearns Manufacturing while her children were young. Later in life, she wore many hats, working for hotels, gas stations, restaurants, and housekeeping.

Her marriages to Dale Buchta and Al Hayes blessed her with four children, Tamara, Jessie, Tommy, and Alyssa. Later in life, she spent several years with Curt Larson. Even though they didn't marry, he was someone she loved dearly. Teresa was a stubborn but loyal friend and really loved the rumble of an old Mustang.  She enjoyed Nascar and Tony Stewart, but her heart was on the dirt track where she spent many weekends with the 6X team. While her kids were little, many weekends were spent camping with family and friends. Sitting around a bonfire full of laughter and making memories brought great joy to Teresa.

Teresa passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the St.Cloud Hospital after complications from pneumonia and other health problems. She was 53 years old. She is survived by her children, Tamara (Buchta) Boeckermann, Jessica (Buchta) Priem, Thomas Buchta, and Alyssa Hayes; grandchildren, Maddy, Lane, Gabriel, Ellie-Mae, Landon, Emmitt and soon to be baby Wesley; siblings, Denise (Joe Ahrens) Leagjeld, Lisa (Dan) Warner, Gail (Mike) Kayala and Brian (Jessica Fuchs) Leagjeld. She was preceded in death by her parents; long-term significant other Curt Larson; and her nephew Timmy Leagjeld.
