Steven Lee Larson

Steven Larson, 70 years of  Staples passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will take place at the Iten Funeral Home Chapel in Browerville on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM.  Visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at the Whispering Pines Cemetery in rural Cushing.

Steven Lee Larson was born on June 30, 1952, in Staples, Minnesota, one of ten children to Harry and Delores (Huebner) Larson. He attended country school until transferring to high school. After leaving high school, he started working on the family farm. He enjoyed working with his hands and being in the fresh outdoors. Steve also learned the trade of mechanics and fell in love with the job and the satisfaction of getting any vehicle that came his way running again. To say he was handy was an understatement. Eventually, Steve’s ear would become so tuned he could listen to a vehicle and then be able to tell you what was wrong with it. Over his working career, he owned his own gas station, worked parting out cars, and spent ten years at Crestliner working on the electrical systems in boats. He finished his working career until retirement at Long Prairie Sanitation. Steve was married and blessed with three children, Sheldon, Melissa, and Stephanie, the marriage later ended and later Steve met the love of his life, Susie.

Was not busy caring for his family or working, he always tinkered in his shop. He often had a variety of animals at the farm, cats, dogs, fish, turtles, and deer. The tough guy persona went away quickly when a baby animal or one of his grandkids came his way. He was a man of many talents, good humor, and a soft heart, that will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Steve passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his children, Sheldon Peavey, Melissa (Andrew) Schneider, and Stephanie (Scott) Rodgers; grandchildren, Ryan Peavey, James Koons, Alissa Blais, Steven Koons, Alexis (Caleb) Schneider, Tyleen Blais, Elizabeth Rodgers, Billy Rodgers and Zoe Schneider; great-grandchildren, Sakaiya Heatly, Evelyn Demo-Koons, Ezra Blais; siblings, Deedra (Arlie) Whitnauer, Garry Larson, DeeAnn (John) Gibbons, Mark (Trudy) Larson, Kathleen (Richard) Hanych, Melodie (Dale) Sudbeck, Michael (Kathy) Larson, Jody Larson, Tammy (Alex) Larson; nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his soul mate, Susie Larson; parents, Harry and Delores Larson.
