Rudolph "Rudy" Frank Determan Jr.

Rudolph "Rudy" Determan 73 years old of rural Long Prairie, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie. Visitation will occur on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Iten Funeral Home Chapel in Browerville. Visitation will continue the day of the mass at the church one hour prior.

Rudolph “Rudy” Frank Determan Jr was born on February 6, 1950, the son of Rudolph Sr. and Margaret
(Richards) of Long Prairie. He graduated from Long Prairie High School, he then attended diesel
mechanic school at the Staples Vo-Tech. He would then use his schooling to work on machinery and
tractors for the rest of his life. While in school he met a young lady by the name of Carla Johnson. The
two were united in marriage on February 13, 1971, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Their
union was blessed with four children, Tina, Toni, Rudy III and Teri. The young couple raised their
children on a farm outside of Long Prairie.

Rudy, he always had a story. Some being life’s lessons and some being in good fun. He loved cold and
wet drinks. His laid-back personality helped him in building relationships over the years with customers
when he worked for Hillig Implement and Napa Auto Parts. He enjoyed meeting new people and visiting
while repairing or fixing tractors and old cars. He was a big fan of John Deere. Rudy loved to tinker!
Rarely was there not a project in process, spending countless hours splitting wood or fixing up old cars
with Rudy III. These old cars that they would make look new again, he would often drive in local parades
or show in car shows. When he was not tinkering or working, Rudy and Carla would load up the kids and
off they would go camping. A line was often dropped in a local lake to hopefully provide a meal for the
family. Hunting season was made not only for the hunt of game but for making memories with his kids
and grandkids. This kind, loving, and charismatic husband, father, grandfather and friend will be deeply
missed.

Rudy passed away to his next life in heaven, on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital
surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was 73 years old. He leaves behind his loving wife, Carla;
children, Tina (Allen) Scherping, Toni Determan, Rudy Determan III, Teri (Chad) Kuehne and the boy
that grew to be like a son, Jim Goff; ten grandchildren, Alita (Brandon) McKenzie, Brady (Abby)
Scherping, Brittany (Max) Walter, Rudy Determan IV, Ava Determan, Wyatt Determan, Caroline (Travis

Wettstein) Kuehne, Caylee Kuehne, Cierra Kuehne and Chad Kuehne Jr; siblings, John (Sherry George)
Determan. He also has many nieces, nephews, and in-laws that will miss him greatly.
Rudy was joined in heaven by his parents, Rudolph and Margaret Determan Sr.
