RoxAnne Sharilyn (Backer) Japp

RoxAnne Sharilyn (Backer) Japp, age 83, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home in Cushing, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service and Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Christ the King Cemetery in Browerville.

RoxAnne Sharilyn (Backer) Japp was born on July 23, 1940, in Chicago, IL. Her parents were Leo and Mollie (Hermann) Backer and she was raised in Browns Valley, MN. She graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1958. RoxAnne married Gary Myrum and they were blessed with four children, Daniel, Katheran, Randall, and Jeffrey. She was remarried in 1967 to John Japp and they had one son, Jerome. John and RoxAnne lived on the Japp home site on Pine Island Lake.

RoxAnne was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville, the Big Lake Sportsman Club, and was Clerk for 46 years on the Turtle Creek Town Board. She did daycare for a neighbor and for many of her grandchildren. RoxAnne also waitressed for some local establishments and cleaned homes. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her delicious brownies. Her other hobbies included knitting, feeding and watching the birds, reading, and playing Yahtzee. RoxAnne had a deep and abiding love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

RoxAnne is survived by her children, Daniel (Judy) Myrum, Katheran (Jerry) Dolney, Randall Myrum, Jeffrey (Debra Meyer) Myrum, and Jerome (Kimberly) Japp; grandchildren, Daniel (Lacey) Myrum, Jonathan (Rebecca) Myrum, Andrew (Claire Yde) Myrum, Lessa (Kelly) Doucette, Cody Myrum, Cassandra (Corey) Jensen, Sara (Jeff Fuchs) Wippler, Mark (Andria) Wippler Jr., Janelle (Jason Scott) Wippler, Amanda “Mandy” (Eric) Larum, Michel (Marianne) Myrum, Neil (Brittney Virnig) Meyer, Tina Myrum, Katrina (Jason) Oldakowski, Amber (Grant) Terry, Ryan (Dianesha) Japp, Joseph Japp, and Abbey (Dalton) Hollinshead; great-grandchildren, Abrianna, Autumn, Trapper, Quinn, Cole, Alex, Milo, Eva, Riley, Nathainel, Emily, Isabell, Ellie, Joni, Hailey, Benjamin, Reed, Wyatt, Ava, Logan, Madi, Aiden, Avery, Claire, Christen, Jaiden, Gavin, Oliver, August, Niko, Ezrah, Alyzandra, Jaxon, Waylon, and Mirabella; and brother, Jeff (Helen) Backer. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Japp; and brother, Leo Backer Jr.
