Ronald Charles Buchta, age 82, of Clarissa, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2026 after a long battle with kidney and bladder cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clarissa at 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed that morning at 9:45 AM with a visitation to follow until the start of the mass. Burial will immediately follow the mass at the church cemetery.
Ron was born on March 16, 1943, to Edward and Rhodema (Blaker) Buchta of rural Browerville and attended Browerville Public School. After graduation he farmed and operated excavating equipment with his father Ed. In 1967 he married his wife of 59 years Doris (Rosen). They raised three children together on a hobby and “Rock” farm in rural Clarissa they purchased together in 1976.
Ron became a skilled heavy equipment operator, working for Blombeck Construction from 1978 to 2008. In his free time he enjoyed summer trolling for Northern Pike and ice fishing from first ice through the entire winter. He also enjoyed Deer hunting in the fall, four-wheeling with friends and family on the weekends and snowmobiling in his younger days. Ron had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed “Tinkering” in the garage. He could fix almost anything with minimal tools or resources, a skill affectionately referred to as “Buchtafying” by the family. Over the years he maintained and repaired his own vehicles and farm equipment and built his own steel machine and hay shed as well as a two car garage. Ron also designed and built his own Dune Buggy, Three-wheeler, large wheeled fish house and a vast array of lighted outdoor Christmas decorations.
Ron’s humor, kindness, and joy for simple pleasures will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Doris; his children Nathan (Susan) of Sartell MN; Kristen (Skeeter) of rural Browerville MN; Kelan (Stacy) of St. Joseph MN as well as his seven grandchildren Heather, Krin, Taylor, Morgan Isabel, Carter, and Nikki and his brothers Elroy and Richard.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Knute Nelson Hospice for their excellent care they provided to Ron.
