Born and raised in Minneapolis, Bob graduated from De La Salle high school on Nicollet Island, where he was on the chess team and a member of the National Honor Society. He spent a year at St. Joseph’s Seminary in New Hampshire before returning to Minnesota.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob took a job as a fire lookout for the forest service before joining a road construction crew for Hennepin County. In 1964, he married Jane Felix of Prior Lake, MN. They moved to Lake Sarah in Greenfield MN and raised their 4 children: Sheila, Robert III, Patrick and Daniel Lynch.
Bob was promoted at the County and spent the remainder of his career as a data analyst before taking early retirement in the 1990s.
He loved hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing and kayaking, spending nearly every minute of every vacation enjoying the natural world, hitting the road and camping whenever he could. The family moved to Maple Lake, MN in 1993 and operated an apple orchard.
Bob and Jane eventually settled in Cushing MN on Thunder Lake, where he spent the last two decades of his life doting on grandchildren and enjoying a quiet life doing all the things he loved.
Preceded in death by his father Robert Sr., mother Magdalene, and daughter Sheila Lynch.
Survived by his wife Jane, brother William (Dennette), sons Robert III (Kristine), Patrick (Wendy), and Daniel (Cory) Lynch; granddaughters Madeline Hodgkins, Lauren Lynch and grandson Grant Lynch.
