Norman Eugene Host was born one of thirteen children to Eugene and Roselind (Luke) Host of Browerville, Minnesota on the twelfth of December 1945. He graduated from Browerville High School. After high school he wanted to experience the big city, so he moved to Minneapolis to find work and live a new life. After one year, he decided to move back home and farm. When Norman was in high school, he met a young lady from Clarissa, Gloria Busch. The two courted and were united in marriage on July 3, 1965. They were married at St. Joseph’s and had their reception at the Methodist fellowship hall both in Clarissa.  The couple generally went to different activities together, where one went, the other wasn’t far behind. They found great joy in each other's company.

Gloria remembers that Norman was shy when they first met. But one day he came home and said that he was going to try doing real estate sales. Well, this turned into a future career that would change his life and occupation forever. He spent the rest of his working days selling many things, homes, cars, insurance and then started working for ABC seamless. He had great success in sales, and his personable personality helped him to make connections with people he met over the years. Three years after working for ABC, Norman decided he wanted to go out on his own. He started Host Exteriors in 1995. He and his son worked side by side on projects and grew the business to what it is today. He instilled his hard-working work ethic into his children and his pride in craftsmanship.

He leaves behind his wife of fifty-seven years, Gloria; children, Terry (Amy) Host and Shanin (Shawn) Marcyes; siblings, Joan (Arnie) Abrahamson, Bob (Sharon) Host, John (Marge) Host, Leroy Host, Randy Host, Doug (Sharon) Waletzko, Carol Lisson, Leon (Julie) Host, Jerry Host; grandchildren, Zachary and Danielle Marcyes, Austin, Matthew, Hayden, Noelle (Justin) Henline, Shayla, Adrianna, and Aubrey Host; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Henline; sister-in-law, Anne Host.
