Marilyn Morgan Obituary

The Celebration of Life for Marilyn has been cancelled.

Marilyn Morgan, 91, of Cushing, passed away peacefully at her home on March 26, 2020.

Marilyn was born to Asa and Ruth (Nutting) Murphy on February 4, 1929, in Browerville.  She attended public school and graduated in 1946.  Marilyn attended the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, graduating in 1949.  On February 19, 1949, she married LeRoy Macho.  He passed away six weeks later of a ruptured brain aneurysm.  On November 4, 1949, she married Leonard Morgan.  To this union five children were born.    Marilyn and Len moved to Long Beach, CA in January of 1952 and in 1963 moved to Yorba Linda, CA; in 1993, they returned to Minnesota.  While in California, Marilyn was active in community affairs and was Yorba Linda’s Citizen of the year in 1964.

Marilyn returned to active nursing in 1968 and worked in several different positions from ICU/CCU nurse to day supervisor to Director of Nursing to infection control and medical staff quality assurance.  She received her epidemiology credentials from the CDC in Atlanta, GA and USC School of Medicine in San Diego, CA, doing her graduated studies at Chapman College in Orange, CA.  During her work in infection control, her company sent her to various hospitals in the U.S. to do in-service on AIDS, Hepatitis and other infection control problems.  Marilyn was also chosen to go to the World Health Organization in Stockholm, Sweden in 1989 to do a presentation on Hepatitis in the workforce.  She retired in 1989 after Len had been diagnosed with throat cancer.  After Len passed away in 2005, Marilyn became active as a volunteer driver to TCCA and for years was a driver for the Amish; she was a friend to all in the community.  She was a lifetime member and served as President of the Association in Practitioners in Infection Control in Orange Co.   Marilyn was also in Who’s Who in American Nursing.

Marilyn was a member of the Rose Drive Friends Church in Yorba Linda, CA, and the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln.  She loved music and to worship in song and words.  After Len died, she loved to travel with her longtime friend Viola Noska.  Her family always teased them about being “Thelma and Louise on the road again.”

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband Le Roy Macho, husband Leonard Morgan and sisters:   Virginia Mae, Phyllis Jane Davis and stepsister Betty Erickson.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Joy (Edward) Perish of Cushing, Douglas (Debby) Morgan of Yorba Linda, CA, Jeffrey Morgan of Cathedral City, CA, Diana (Carl) Brehmer of Browerville and David Morgan of Cushing; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; step sisters:  Mayme Bartylla, Joyce Vasecka; 2 nieces and a grand nephew, “adopted” family of Grant Noska; Sean Liming and the Simmon sisters in California and Swedish exchange student Peter Singer and his family in Stockholm.
