Margaret Pachan, of rural Long Prairie, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was 86 years old.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a rosary being prayed at 3:40 PM. Visitation will continue the day of the Mass one hour prior at the church. Burial will take place Friday at the church cemetery.

Margaret Katherine Pachan was born November 11, 1937, to Leo & Abby (Lindemann) Doege in Osakis, MN. Being one of eight children, Margaret learned at an early age the value of hard work and being humble.  Margaret attended school in Swanville through 10th grade and then became employed at Munsingwear in Little Falls. Soon after she met the love of her life, Joseph Pachan and they were married June 20, 1960. Joe and Margaret welcomed 11 children over the years, and they cherished every moment with them. Margaret, being strong in her faith, raised her children with patience and love.   Working 18 years at Zinter’s, milking cows, bailing hay, being the continual peacemaker and washing clothes with only the wringer washer kept Margaret busy, but that is when she was most happy. Keeping busy was a way of life for her. In the time she had to spare she made home cooked meals, baked goodies and enjoyed a good polka. She and Joe were known to fly across the dance floor together.

Preceding Margaret in death is husband, Joe; sisters, Evelyn, Cecilia, and Lucille; grandson, Travis Pachan; and her parents, Leo & Abby Doege.

Left to honor her memory are her children, George (Chong) Pachan, Mike (Cheryl) Pachan, Roger (Tammi) Pachan, Joe Pachan Jr., Jean (Scott) Vogel, Dennis (Jen) Pachan, Lawrence Pachan, Randy (Vaughn Stice) Pachan, Paul Pachan, Jim (Amy) Pachan and Janice Pachan; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
