Mabel was born April 23, 1925, in Sauk Centre, to Bernard & Susan (May) VanHavermaet. She was the third oldest of eight children. Mabel attended school through the 8th grade. After school she worked on the family farm while helping at home with the children. She met George Rousselange while working at her dad’s billiard’s parlor. They were married May 15, 1951. Together they raised their children while working various jobs. Mabel and George moved to Browerville in 1976. After George’s death, Mabel worked as a Home Health Aide for several years.
Mabel was an accomplished quilter, winning many ribbons at the Todd County Fair. She spent many hours quilting and doing needlework. She worked big gardens, enjoyed canning, baking, and spending time with her family.
Mabel is preceded in death by her parents; husband George in 1980, son Richard in 1983, siblings: Joseph, Lawrence, Arthur, and Veronica VanHavermaet. She is survived by her children: Ramona (Jim) Thorp, Vernon (Debi) Rousselange, Gregory (Tara Pipenhagen) Rousselange; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and siblings: Cecelia Bieringer, Regina Coan and Francis VanHavermaet.
