Leroy Thrun, 78-year-old formerly of Clarissa, Passed away on Friday, August 1,2025, at the VA Nursing Home in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Clarissa at 12pm. Visitation will take place at the Iten Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue the day of Mass one hour prior to Church. Burial will take immediately following Mass at the church cemetery.

LeRoy Thrun, 78, of Menahga, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. Born on March 10, 1947, LeRoy grew up in Clarissa, Minnesota, where he attended school before proudly serving his country. In 1964, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam until 1968. He continued to be a proud Marine for the rest of his life.

After returning home, LeRoy married the love of his life, Arlinda Bakken, on May 10, 1969. Together they raised three boys who were their pride and joy, and later they delighted in their nine grandchildren.

LeRoy spent his career driving truck, farming, and working for Harley Rock Picker. His adventurous spirit led the family to Nome, Alaska, where he worked for the Alaska Gold Company and the Bering Straits Regional Housing Authority. After 12 years in Alaska, LeRoy and Arlinda returned to Minnesota to enjoy lake life on First Crow Wing Lake. Back home, he worked for Darchuk's Fabrication and Northern Lights Casino.

LeRoy and Arlinda shared 51 wonderful years together until her passing in 2020. He loved fishing, tinkering on countless projects in his garage, and sharing laughs with friends and family. Known for his great sense of humor and love of a good joke, LeRoy brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Arlinda; and his grandson, Jamison Thrun. LeRoy is survived by his children: Shannon (Kelly) Thrun of Fairbanks, Alaska; Robby (Kelly) Thrun of Nome, Alaska; and Scott (Jessica) Thrun of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christian Thrun, Quinten Thrun, Chance Thrun (Elizabeth), Colten Thrun, Kayden Thrun, Natalie Thrun, Cirsten Thrun, and Karley Thrun; great-grandchildren: Paisley Thrun and Charlie Nolan; siblings: Jerry (Lavonne) Thrun, Bob (Lori) Anderson, Ivan Anderson, and Rita (Rudy Krizak) Anderson; his faithful companion, Jack; and many other loved family members and friends. LeRoy’s life was one of service, dedication, and laughter. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
