Klyde Eugene Gritz

Klyde Eugene Gritz, 79, of Burtrum, passed away on February 28, 2022.

  A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Iten Funeral Home Chapel in Browerville. 

Visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  

Dedicated family man and friend.

 Born May 18, 1942 in Browerville to Kenneth and Goldie (Line) Gritz, Klyde graduated from Browerville High School in 1961; he played baseball and basketball where he became an avid sports fan for life. Klyde married Carol Piekarski on May 6, 1967, and together they dedicated their lives to making a loving home for their family.  In 1983, Klyde started a stainless steel business and together with his wife, worked hard to be able to retire in 1997, at which time they moved to Burtrum.  He spent the next 25 years enjoying the birds, nature and spending time with family and friends. Klyde’s enjoyment and pride in life was his wife and his family above all else. He also had a deep love and compassion for nature and animals which included fishing (especially at round lake), feeding birds and deer on his property, and spending time with his beloved dog Barney. Klyde was always proud to state he was from Browerville and often joked he would run into someone from Browerville no matter where he went in the country, and much to everyone’s surprise, it was true.

 Klyde is survived by wife Carol, son Scott (Amy) Gritz, daughters Jackie Freppert and Jodi Gritz, brother Chuck (Sheri) Gritz, grandchildren Morgan and Madison Gritz, Jerome Freppert, Alicia Ugarte – Delrio, Kristen Boettcher, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 Proceeded in death by parents, brothers Leroy and Ollie, and son-in-law Joseph Freppert.
