Judy was born on June 3, 1941, in Richfield, MN. She was raised by her parents, Stan and Doris (Lund) Sorensen and graduated from Richfield High School. Judy began working at First Southdale National Bank where she met Fred Dinkel. The couple decided to spend their lives together and were married on May 28, 1960, in Richfield, MN. After the birth of their first daughter, Barb, the family moved to Long Prairie, MN, where they continued to grow their family. The couple was blessed with three more daughters, Deb, Pam, and Kim. Raising their daughters was Judy’s top priority as she stayed home to raise them while they grew up. She made each holiday special and memorable by thoroughly decorating their home with the current holiday’s themed décor. Judy was also a great cook and baked and decorated cakes, making her families’ birthday celebrations extra special.

Judy had several part-time jobs throughout her life, including the Fabric Hut in Long Prairie. This only encouraged her love for quilting and sewing. She was a talented seamstress who made many of her daughters’ clothes, including their First Communion dresses. On their free nights, Judy and Fred would spend time visiting with friends and playing pull tabs at the VFW. Judy liked to golf and cherished time at their lake home in Nevis, MN. Judy also enjoyed spending many winters with Fred at their home in Texas. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy was known as GiGi to her great-grandchildren. Judy loved all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Barb Dinkel Goodrich, Deb (Dan) Laumeyer, Pam Dinkel all of Long Prairie and Kim (Mark) Feist of Pillager; grandchildren: Eric Buhl, Jayson Dinkel, Kelly (Parker) Robinson, Hannah (Everett) Dotson, and Brady (Nicole) Feist; great-grandchildren: Mila, Sophie, and Carter Robinson, and Violet and Faye Dotson. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brother, Jim Sorensen; and sister-in-law, Doris (Bob) Olsen.
