On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Joe was at home when he peacefully left this world, surrounded in spirit by the love of his friends and family, and made his journey to heaven. He leaves behind a daughter, Kelly Dewein and spouse; grandchildren; siblings, Margaret (Pete) Leither, Frank (Julie) Becker, Ray (Diane) Becker, Al Becker, Joyce Froh, Jim (Mary) Becker, Steve (Sherri) Becker, Henry Becker, Ed Becker and Mary (Brian) Pelzer; step-children, Bryant, Brett, Bryce Louden and spouses; step-grandchildren; many extended family members; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Theresa Becker; his brother, Anthony “Tony” Becker; his sister-in-law, Connie Becker; his brother-in-law, Byron Froh; and many aunts and uncles. Joseph ‘Joe’ Cooch' Mark Becker was born on October 3, 1955, the son of Clarence and Theresa (Gogala) Becker of rural Long Prairie. He was the sixth child out of 12 children in the family. He graduated from Long Prairie High School and began his working career at several local businesses, including Hart Press, Long Prairie Sanitation, Zinter Brothers’ Potato Farm, Petron’s Potato Farm, Central Home Comfort, and later retired from Dan’s Prize. Throughout his career at these local businesses, he also farmed full-time alongside his brothers. The Becker brothers milked cows twice a day and grain-farmed, but still managed to squeeze in some fun, like swimming at nearby Mill Lake and playing ball in the yard. Joe had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed spearfishing and snowmobiling in the winter and could often be found riding the side-by-side with the family dog Bailey in tow, checking on the crops, not just his own, but the neighbors’ too, always taking time to appreciate the quiet beauty of nature around him. He never missed an opportunity to visit with family or friends, greeting them with a warm smile and genuine conversation. His presence was a reminder of how simple moments, shared with others, are often the most meaningful. Joe was meticulous when it came to caring for his machinery; every piece was maintained with pride and precision. When asked when he’d show up to help with a project, his go-to response was a laid-back, “Thinking about it.” His idea of a perfect morning was waking up on his own schedule, sipping a strong cup of coffee, and enjoying a cigarette. He loved getting his morning coffee at Holiday and meeting up with the locals. He had a calm, steady way of moving through life, often answering questions with, “Let’s wait and see what happens,” because to him, there was no sense in stressing over things we can’t control. Joe was a kind and loving soul—imperfectly perfect in all the ways that made him truly unique.
