James Adam Fisher was born June 24, 1955, in Browerville, Minnesota, to Mildred (Amner) Fisher and Edward Fisher.
Jim grew up in Browerville and graduated from Browerville High School in 1973. Jim then attended Moorehead State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in computer science, in 1977.
After college, Jim was employed at 3M in Maplewood, Minnesota, as an IT Specialist. He worked there from 1978–2010, 32 years, until retirement.
Jim loved going on camping trips to the Boundary Waters with friends throughout the years. He had also traveled with friends and family to Hawaii, Colorado, and Jamaica. He was an avid fisherman in summer and enjoyed ice fishing in the winter. Jim always had a kind heart and non-judgmental nature, and made many friends over the years.
Jim and Joni (Forsberg) were united in marriage in 1996 in Afton, Minnesota. They lived in the suburbs of St. Paul until retirement. They purchased lake property on Horseshoe Lake in Browerville shortly after their marriage, which they would enjoy on weekend trips. In 2008, they built their home on the lake, and Jim retired in 2010. Jim soon joined his friends’ golfing group at Long Prairie Golf Course.
In 2016, Jim rededicated his life to the Lord with water baptism. He loved attending church and hearing the Word, which guided him on his journey of faith.
Jim and Joni enjoyed traveling to Cozumel, Mexico; Florida; a Caribbean cruise; and the Virgin Islands, and other travels. They enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their lake home. We enjoyed camping in the Boundary Waters and fishing on Horseshoe Lake. Jim volunteered at the Browerville Food Shelf every week. He also enjoyed having a vegetable garden every year. Jim loved music from the 70s to classical, and they enjoyed attending many concerts.
In 2021, he was diagnosed with dementia, and in 2022, FTD with aphasia. It was a blessing to have him live comfortably in our home until his passing, with much help from Moments Hospice (Heather Temply), plus my own personal caregivers.
Their church home is Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Cushing, Minnesota. They enjoyed the ministry and fellowship there, where many close friendships were made and meaningful support was received during his illness.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joni, Browerville; brothers Tim Fisher, Don Fisher, Roger Fisher (Mary); sister Karen Werner (Gary); sisters-in-law Barbara Erickson, Carrol Thornby (Dale); many nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver Bill Engle. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Edward Fisher, and brother Gerald Fisher.
