James Sudbeck passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. James was 74 years old. 

A Prayer Service in his honor will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville at 3:00 PM.

Visitation will be from 1:00PM to 3:00PM, prior to the prayer service at the Iten Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to “Kelsi’s Hope” are preferred.

James Francis Sudbeck was born on August 4, 1950, in Yankton, South Dakota to Hugo and Leona (Kast) Sudbeck. The family lived near Bow Valley, Nebraska and then finally settled in Bertha, Minnesota in 1956. James and Melodie raised their two boys in Browerville MN. Later in life James built and settled in his dream home on Mille Lacs Lake. His natural ability to be a fighter showed up as a child when he would not let polio slow him down, and as an adult he outlived the expectations from his lung disease by 9 years. James was very driven to not be limited in life. That drive showed as he traveled selling farm equipment, but really James could sell anything. James worked AgChem, Agco, and Ziegler from 1975 until he retired in 2015. In life James was known for his ability to ‘wheel and deal’ and always looking for the next venture, whether it be in working on machinery or farming. In addition to ‘Sudsy,’ he earned the nickname ‘Foreman,’ as he was often seen at his “captain’s chair”, directing one of his many “crews,” while cracking jokes. James was the life of the party and loved his time with family and friends. James passed away on September 11, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital. James is survived by his son Andrew (Jennifer Emery) Sudbeck; brothers Bob (Linda) Sudbeck and Jerry Sudbeck; sisters Donna Hoiosen, Jean (Jim) Fellerer, and Jane (Rick) Voge; sister-in-law Connie Sudbeck; grandchildren Ashlinn and Finn Emery; also considered family Tanner (Ashley) Line and their children Liam, Wren and Tessa Ann; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. James is preceded in death by his parents Hugo and Leona; son Michael; sisters Marietta Sudbeck and Geralyn Bakken; brother George Sudbeck and brother-in-law Phill Hoiosen.
