James Motzko passed on May 20, 2025. He was 86 years old of Browerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday ,May 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Christ the King Catholic Church. A visitation will take place at the church on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 PM. Visitation will continue the day of the service one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

Jim Motzko passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 20, 2025.  He was born in Browerville, MN to Mary (Claseman) Motzko and Stanley Motzko.  He was the youngest of nine children born into this family.  He attended school in Browerville, MN and graduated with the class of 1957.  It was during these years that he met the love of his life, Alice Biermaier. 

They were married on April 13, 1959, at the St Joseph Church in Clarissa, MN.  They resided on a farm in rural Long Prairie where they started to raise their family.  In January 1969 the family moved to Waseca, MN where they continued to raise their five children. Dad was employed at Brown Printing in Waseca, MN.  In 1996 Mom and Dad returned home to Browerville, MN, where they resided in a house out in the country.   

Dad had many interests during his life, some of which were watching or listening to the Twins baseball games and playing cards.  He also enjoyed fishing and was able to go one last time a week before he passed and was met with great success. He loved to go hunting with the boys, and would often take the “back roads”, and would even go so far as to draw in the roads himself on the map. Dad loved a good story and was quite the jokester. 

Dad loved mom wholly and dearly, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart.  His heart was bigger than himself and he showed that love to all of us.  

He is survived by their five children: Gary (Lynette) Motzko; Carmen (Dann) Weske; Dan (Candi) Motzko; Janet (Kurt) Kuball; and Becky (Jeff) Lothert, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and one brother Roy Motzko and one sister Inez Twardowski. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Biermaier) Motzko, parents Mary and Stanley Motzko, sisters: Edna Hengemuhle, Beatrice Biermaier, Octiva Shimota, Jeannette Scott and two brothers Giles Motzko, and Norbert Motzko,  and daughter-in-law Kimberly Motzko.
