Irene Margaret Bokinskie Prill, was born June 28, 1924 in Long Prairie, MN. She died Thursday March 10, 2022 at her residence, Meadowplace Assisted Living in Long Prairie.  She married Edward F. Prill on August 29, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They lived on the family farm until 1990, when they moved into town.  She started working for the Pioneer Telephone Company when she was in high school, as a receptionist and switchboard operator retiring in 1975.  She loved her job and there were many co-workers that turned into lifelong friends.

After retirement, she was asked to be a cook at Little Elk Ranch in Browerville and loved interacting with the kids on their summer camp adventures.  Often Dad went along to help out. School year fall of 1994 she became a foster grandparent for the kindergarteners in the Long Prairie public school, often talking about how as the children grew up they still would greet her and call her Grandma.  She worked there until 2011, stating that she had taught quite a few kids that had now graduated.  She also was blessed to work with some fabulous people whom she still was in contact with.

Irene is survived by her children and spouses Tom and Cindy Blattner, Buffalo, MN; Leanda and Gordy Lien, Minot, ND; Joe, John and Sue (Katterhagen), Jill and Scott Hillman, Long Prairie.

Grandchildren and their spouses Oscar and Sarah Jo Wojciechowski-Prill; Theodora (Tedi) and Jeff Mason, Kris and Kathryn Lien, Jenny Lien and Craig Haskins, Amy and Tony Brichacek, Misty and Eric Baker, Wendy and Dan Browen, Andrew and Rosa; Jeffrey, Erin and Codi Paszek; Nikki and Bruce Rohde, Heather and Mike Seminitis, Mitch Hillman, and 25 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister in law JoAnne Bokinskie.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Dora (Theodora Schroeder) Bokinskie, her husband Eddie in 1997, siblings Kathleen Lucas, Leola Ahlfs, Lois Laumeyer, Eugene, Roger.

For Those I love

When I am gone release me, let me go.

I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.

Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love;

You can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown,

But now it’s time I traveled on alone!

And then, when you must come this way alone…
