Ione was born February 26, 1935, in Greenwood Township, Clearwater County to Clarence & Elnora (Johnson) Bjerke.  On July 10, 1953, Ione married Lloyd Hayes. Together they raised their children on the farm in Clarissa.  Ione was very active in her church, a member of the Golden Rule Homemaker’s Club, enjoyed baking and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Ione is survived by her children: Larry (Diana) Hayes, Kathryn (David) Nagel, Karen (Mike) Harne, Peter (Darla) Hayes, Randy (DarLee) Hayes, Terry (Lauri) Hayes, Timothy (Jody) Hayes, Stan (Debbie) Johnson, 27 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter; sisters: Marian (Dave) Fragodt, Renee (Rudy) Rolfes and sister-in-law Julie Bjerke.

Ione is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, son Bruce Hayes, grandson Ryan Hayes, granddaughter Jackie Hayes, great granddaughter Katarina Mortensen; siblings:  Curt Bjerke, sister Janice Bruce and grandson-in-law Rus Roelike.
