Hazel Grace (Bundy) Swedal

Hazel Swedal of Long Prairie, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the Community Memorial Home -Galeon in Osakis. Hazel was 103 years young!

A funeral service in her honor will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Long Prairie, Minnesota at 3:30 PM. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church. Burial will immediately follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rural Todd County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family, they will then pass them onto Hazel's favorite organizations.

Hazel Grace was born on October 10, 1918, the daughter of Neil and Grace (Chapin) Bundy of Rural Clotho/Gutches Grove.  She attended country school until the eighth grade. After grade school Hazel helped her family with different tasks on the farm and caring for family.  She later started working in the service industry, working as a waitress, cook, meat cutter, day care, all using her caring heart to serve others. Hazel worked many long hours, so that she could provide for her children, Eldon, Gloria, Elaine, and Cheryl. She was a long time member of the Long Prairie American Legion, honoring her brother's service to our great country.  When Hazel was not busy caring for her family, working or volunteering, she could be found outside caring for her beautiful garden and yard, enjoying Gods natural beauty.o

On Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the age of 103 years, Hazel left us behind and went to the arms of her Lord and Savior. 

She leaves behind her children, Eldon (Kathy) Swedal, Gloria (Dale) Mechels, Elaine (Robert) Kunz, and Cheryl Toenyan; grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) Swedal, Erik Swedal, Toni Herzog, Brenda (Trever) Williams, Alan (Jenny) Mechels, Tyler (Abby) Kunz, Travis(Myria) Kunz Danielle Toenyan, Hayli Toenyan, Anthony Loehrer; many great, great - great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her parent, Neil and Grace Bundy; grandchildren, Doug Swedal, Tamara Mechels; siblings, David Bundy, Lee Bundy, Beulah Christopherson, Blanche Bundy Carol Judkins; sisters-in-law, Helen Bundy, Mary Bundy;  brothers in law Will Christopherson and Keith Judkins daughters-in-law, Vera Cooper; Ex-husband, Elmer Swedal.
