Gerald Hinzmann 85 year old of Clarissa, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.

A memorial service in his honor will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11 AM  at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Clarissa, Minnesota.  Visitation will take place on Friday, December 19, from 5 PM to 7 PM at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and will continue the day of the service, one hour prior at the church.

Gerald “Jerry” Dean Hinzmann, 85, passed away on December 10, 2025, at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, Minnesota.

Jerry was born on October 29, 1940, to Arnold and Lila (Hess) Hinzmann and was the third of seven siblings. He spent most of his life on the road, proudly driving for his own business, Hinzmann Trucking. Over the years, he also devoted himself to public service, serving in the U.S. Army, working as a firefighter, and as a Police Officer intermittently between trucking trips.

In 1962, Jerry married Glenis Cuchna, and together they raised three children: Sherri, Steven, and Shellie. In his younger years, friends and family affectionately knew him by his nickname “Boar,” a name that followed him in sponsoring a local league softball team.

Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He relished any opportunity to gather with friends or family for a competitive card game, and he especially enjoyed welcoming visitors for a cup of coffee at home or catching up with others at a local café. He cherished connection, conversation, and the simple joy of time spent together.

He is survived by his three children, Sherri Hinzmann of Browerville, MN, Steven (Donna) Hinzmann of Clarissa, MN, and Shellie (Larry) Drayna of Clarissa, MN, as well as eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Glenis, his brother Jim, sister-in-law Dru, sister Kathy and infant daughter.
