Gerald Fisher, 81, of New Brighton, passed away on October 2, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, Browerville.
Gerald was born August 16, 1940, in Bertha, to Edward & MaryAnn (Hagar) Fisher. Gerald attended St. Peter’s Catholic School in Browerville, graduating from Browerville High School. He married Rita-Faye Feierabend on April 16, 1966 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Gerald worked for Wolter Bros. in Browerville and in the early 60’s they moved to Minneapolis where Gerald worked as a delivery driver for a radiator company. In the early 80’s he went to work for a small electronics company. Gerald was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in NE Minneapolis.
Gerald enjoyed a variety of things; Western movies, Bluegrass music and as a family they would travel to various states for festivals. He was an avid bowler, softball player and often was a coach for his boys. He attended three national softball tournaments for a church league and was very proud of his achievements in softball. Although his highlight was being able to play softball with his sons. Jerry was often at the neighboring thrift store to buy a little something for his two grandchildren. He would look forward to his grandchildren’s activities, plays, games and concerts. He was a proud Grandpa. Jerry had a heart of gold with a very giving soul.
When Jerry retired, he moved to a senior apartment and was the go-to guy for getting his neighbors to their doctor appointments, or to pick up their necessities. He was paid with meals, baked goods, and built good friendships from his trips. After 24 years of marriage Jerry and Rita-Faye divorced but remained friends till the moment he passed.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Edward & MaryAnn, stepmother Millie Fisher and infant brother. He is survived by his children: Brett Fisher of Chesterfield, MO, Greg (Monica) Fisher of Spring Lake Park; grandchildren: Sadie and Harmon; ex-wife Rita-Faye Fisher; siblings: Don Fisher, Roger (Mary) Fisher, Karen (Gary) Werner, Tim Fisher and Jim (Joni) Fisher.
