George Lorentz Obituary

George Lorentz passed away on November 8, 2022, at the Frazee Care Center. He was 78 years old. 

A mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, November 15th at St, Joseph's Catholic Church in Clarissa, Minnesota at 11:00 A.M.  With a visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery later that day. 

George Phillip Lorentz was born to Michael and Elizabeth (Carkhuff) Lorentz on July 7,1944 in Bertha, MN.  He was raised on a farm northeast of Eagle Bend, MN and attended country school from 1950 to 1957.  He then attended Eagle Bend Public High School until his graduation in 1962.  During his high school years, George worked after school and weekends as a gas station attendant and eventually a mechanic. 

George and Kathy (Ostendorf) were married in 1965. While living in a rural Eagle Bend home they owned their children Dawn and Roxanne were born.  George was employed by the Eagle Bend Creamery.  In 1969, they moved to Wadena MN where he first worked as an auto body shop technician at local automobile sales and service business then purchased and operated his own body shop business. 

George married Sylvia (Anderson) in 1971 and adopted her two boys Mark and Steve.

In the mid 80's, he moved to Ottertail purchasing an auto body shop and wrecker business.  In the 90's he also acquired a limousine service, Touch of Class.  George continued to own and operate his auto body shop and car and tractor sales until he became unable to continue due to declining health. He spent his later years residing in nursing homes, most recently at Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN until the time of his death. 

George is survived by his wife Linda, (Erickson) and children, Mark (Juanita) Lorentz of Fairbanks, Alaska, Dawn ( Kent) Ertl of Wausaukee, Wisconsin, Roxanne (Terry) Schackman of Brainerd, Steve (Sherrie) Lorentz of Elk River, and Shannon (Fred) Bell of Black Diamond, Washington, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, six siblings: Joe (Susan) Lorentz of Eagle Bend, Michele (Charlie) DeBlieck of Manchester, Iowa, Pat Kirikiti of Austin, Texas, Becky (John) Walker of Ottertail, Gabe (Grace)  Lorentz of Helena, Montana, and sister's in-laws, Pat Lorentz of Wadena and Diosa Lorentz of The Philippines.

Welcoming George to heaven are his parents, Mike and Betty Lorentz, brothers: Louis, Dan, Brad, and his granddaughter Shyra Martyn.
