He attended Staples Tech before enlisting in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 2 years with some of this time over in Vietnam. The young couple lived in Browerville where they raised their young family in a house they built just down the road from where Gary grew up. Gary worked for land O’Lakes for what would be most of his adult career until he retired at the age of 62. When he was not working, he would take his family camping. He enjoyed fishing and being a lifetime member of the local VFW.
