Gary Frank Chock

Gary Chock passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Lakewood Health System in Staples. Gary turned 75 in May.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial is pending for later that day at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Gary Frank Chock was born on May 27, 1947, the son of Leo and Bernadine (Woeste) Chock of rural Browerville. Gary graduated from Browerville High School. He attended Staples Tech before enlisting in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 2 years with some of this time over in Vietnam. It was while home on leave that Gary and a friend went out to a local dance club. Gary in his uniform caught the eyes of a young lady, Diane Ashbaugh. The couple wrote letters back and forth for the next few months and were married on May 1, 1971. Their union was blessed with three children, Duane, Jeff and Misty. The young couple lived in Browerville where they raised their young family in a house they built just down the road from where Gary grew up. Gary worked for land O’Lakes for what would be most of his adult career until he retired at the age of 62. When he was not working, he would take his family camping. He enjoyed fishing and being a lifetime member of the local VFW.

Gary passed away on August 17, 2022, at the Lakewood Health System Hospital. He was 75 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Diane; children, Duane, and his daughters, Hannah, Emily, Julia and Lauren; Jeff, his wife Dana, and their children, Hunter and Hailey; and Misty, her significant other Adam; brother, Greg Chock. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Bernadine Chock; and his mother and father-in-law, Milford and Bernice Ashbaugh.
