Evelyn (Pachan) Jonckowski

Evelyn (Evie) Jonckowski, age 98, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at her daughter's home in Roseville.

Rosary will be recited at the Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M. with visitation following until the start of the Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville. The interment will be held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery after the funeral service.

The doors to heaven were open for Evelyn (Evelina, baptismal name) “Evie” Jonckowski (Pachan), age 98 of Browerville when she passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Roseville, MN.  Born on March 28, 1925, to George and Anna Pachan, Evie was the fifth of 10 children in the family, growing up in rural Browerville where farming was her way of life. Evie’s farming career ended in her late teens when she moved to Minneapolis to work in a United States Defense Plant until her early 20s. Following the end of World War II, Evie returned home and worked at the Red Owl Store where soon after she met her husband, Bob Jonckowski.

Evie and Bob began their lives together on June 6th, 1950. They were blessed with four children, Lois, Jim, Pam, and Renae.  Evie’s faith was tested but never wavered when they lost their daughter, Lois, to cancer in 1982.

Evie’s love for Jesus, her Catholic Faith, and her church in Browerville were her foundation throughout her life. Evie was a fixture at church as she volunteered for anything and everything.  She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. John’s Hospital Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, Red Hat Society and drove for social service in her retirement. Evie loved to laugh. While she would love to laugh with you, she most often loved to laugh at herself.  Finding new and unique ways to make you laugh was one of her gifts.

Evie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jonckowski, (1995); daughter, Lois Karsnia, (1982); son-in-law,Tim Karsnia; great-grandson Gabriel Karsnia (2020); parents, George and Anna Pachan; brothers, John, Andy and Joe; sisters, Helen House, Emma Buhl, Anne Wettstein, and Mary Nelson.

She is survived by her son, James (Karen) Jonckowski, daughter Pam (Joel) Sutherland, and daughter, Renae (David) Mottaz. In addition, Evie has 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin Pachan and Alex Pachan
