Edmund Carl Koester, 87 year old of Browerville, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at his residence. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville. Visitation will be held at the Iten Funeral Home from 4 - 7 P.M. on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with a prayer service that will start at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue the day of Mass at the church one hour prior. Interment will follow at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

Edmund Carl Koester passed quietly at home on September 16, 2024, at the age of 87. Edmund was born to Carl and Dorothy (Nordstrom) Koester in Long Prairie on July 5, 1937. He grew up on the farm in Browerville and attended Browerville High School. Edmund left the farm at the age of 17 and moved to St. Paul to live with relatives for four years. He worked at Waldorf Paper for the first six years then transferred jobs and started working at Buckbee-Mears for 37 years retiring in 2000.
Edmund was united in married to Gloria Dudek on October 10, 1959, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Browerville. They were married 59 years before Gloria passed away in 2017. After Gloria’s death, Edmund moved from the Twin Cities back to the farm he grew up on in Browerville after living in St. Paul and Oakdale for a combined total of 63 years. He moved in with his oldest daughter who lives on the old home farmstead.
Edmund and Gloria did a lot of traveling over the years including a trip to Germany. They spent many days, 42 years, at the cabin on Long Lake in Browerville. He liked to play cards, go on bus trips, socialize, and ride his side-by-side.
To cherish his memories are his children Kathy Koester (John Wasserbauer) Browerville, Darlene Brand (Greg) Little Falls, Debbie Starner (John) Hoffman, Kevin Koester (Misty Daugherty) Bismarck, David Koester (Jean) Oakdale. Edmund has 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also to cherish his memory are his sister, Jane Zetah, from Pillager, and three sisters-in-law Delores Eberle (Karl Lawin) Burtrum, Jane Malone (Richard) Deer Creek, and Rose Brichacek, Little Falls.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws John and Anne Dudek, his parents Dorothy and Carl Koester, and brother-in-law Donald Zetah.
