Obituary for Douglas Sadlo
On September 20, 1962, Douglas John Sadlo was born to Roger and Lorraine (Petron) Sadlo of Browerville Minnesota. Doug was the third child of four children born to Roger and Lorraine.
Doug was born with a sparkle of mischief in his eye. His quick wit made him a delight to be around. He was rambunctious and fun. He loved to have the wind blowing on his face, this started when he built go-carts as a kid and grew into the passion and love of riding his Harley motorcycle. There was never a shortage of adventures, whether it was building forts in the back woods, playing with the neighborhood kids, or driving down the open road, Doug loved life and made it fun for others. As a kid, his love for music started at an early age, learning how to play drums from his uncle Gary and, by the age of 14, he had his first gig playing drums with a band on the weekends at local supper clubs and bars. Of course, at 14 he couldn’t drive, so his mom, dad, and at times his siblings, all piled into the car for a night out. In high school, he upped his game with the bands by adding his long-feathered hair, bell-bottomed pants, and wedge boots. Of course, he saved his hard-earned money and bought his own muscle car. He was definitely the All-America kid from his muscle cars, to rock and roll bands and was an all-star on the football team.
Prior to graduating high school in 1980, Doug worked part-time for Opp’s Lumber Yard and Brichacek Cabinets. Doug attended recording school in Ohio after graduation, then moved back home and started his working career driving truck for his Dad, and later worked at BANTA and RR Donnelly. No matter where he was, Doug was the life of the party with his love for music, playing his drums and guitars. He had an incredible strength in God, he relied on prayer to help him and others through many storms in life.
When he was not busy, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on muscle cars, and riding his beloved motorcycle. His favorite moments though were spent sitting around a bonfire with his niece, nephews and other family members and friends, just visiting and of course telling jokes. Doug’s incredible spirit will be missed by all that knew him.
On Monday September 16, 2024, Doug passed away after a medical emergency. His life ended too soon for all that loved him. He was 61 years young. He leaves behind his mother, Lorraine; siblings, David Sadlo, Dione (Steve) Lisson, and Denise (Dan) Gaida; niece, Tabitha Lisson; nephews, Josh Lisson and Justin (Corrin) Lisson, Joseph (Kristi) Gaida, Jake (Katie) Gaida and James Gaida; four great nieces; two great nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Sadlo; grandparents, Nellie and George Sadlo and Frank and Sophie Petron; many aunts and uncles.
