Dorine (Schraut) Firkus

Dorine Firkus, 95, of Eagle Bend passed away April 23, 2020 at Central Todd County Care Center. A private burial service was held at the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Clarissa with Fr Mitchell Bechtold officiating.

Dorine was born on June 6, 1924 to John and Agnes (Otremba) Schraut in Pierz MN. 

On September 23, 1944 she was joined in marriage to Frank Firkus.  The couple made their home in Eagle Bend, MN for the next 70 years. She was very active in the community and their Church, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxilliary.

Dorine was a kind woman, a loving wife and mother, always sharing her homemade jellies, breads, cookies, and horseradish with family and friends.  She stayed busy with her family, gardening and canning, sewing, and loved to play cards.

During her retirement she volunteered and enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and tending her beautiful flower beds.

She was preceded in death by husband, Frank; Son, James; Daughters, Roseanne and Rita; Grandson, Jason; Granddaughter, Kayla.

Surviving her are sons: John of Bloomington and Michael (Patricia) of Sauk Centre; Daughters:  Karen (Larry) Olson of Alexandria, Marie (Dale) Katterhagen of Browerville, Deborah (Gary) Ridley of Columbia Heights, Sharon (John) Valley of Howard Lake. Grandchildren: Joseph (Sarah) Firkus, Mathew (Hayley) Katterhagen, David (Julie) Olson, Bethany (Reid) Lohse, Jessica (Luke) Navratil-Strawn, Joshua (Jackie) Firkus, Grant (Maria) Olson, Jamie (Andy) Gassmann, Luke Katterhagen, John (Sarah) Valley, Chad Firkus, and Kaitlyn Gunderson.  8 Great grandsons and 12 great granddaughters.
