Dolores was born to Marvin and Mearl (Madson) Simonson on September 6, 1929, at the family farm near Parkers Prairie, MN. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1947, and on November 27, 1948, she married the love of her life, DavidMyers, whom she lovingly called Davey Baby. Their union was blessed with six children - Toni, Joseph, Susan, Samuel, Jean, and Thomas. Dolores and David owned and ran the Browerville Blade newspaper office from 1952 until 1965, and she continued to edit the newspaper until Tommy started school. When Dolores was not busy tending to her family, she also worked in administration at the Browerville Public School for over 20 years. In retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed winters in Arizona and New Mexico.
Dolores was an extraordinary woman known for her numerous hobbies, community involvement, and her generous heart. When you saw Dolores or visited her at her house, she always made you feel welcome. She always had a cup of coffee and a cookie for you and gave the best hugs! She valued quality time with people, whether it was a meaningful conversation or a good meal. She enjoyed following all her grandkids’ activities and was very proud of them all! She enjoyed looking at all of the family photos that they had taken over the years.
Dolores kept herself busy with several hobbies. She loved playing bingo, doing word search and crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, listening to music, watching Twins baseball, bowling, golfing, playing dominoes, board games, and solitaire. She also enjoyed wearing decorative neck scarves that complemented her outfits. She loved her community and was always willing to lend a hand in any way she could. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Red Hat Club, and was very involved at the Care Center.
