Dennis Leo Morawczynski

Dennis Leo Morawczynski, beloved husband, father and grandfather, 84, of rural Browerville, passed away peacefully at home with family on July 9, 2023.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 720 Main Street North in Browerville, Minnesota.
Visitation will also be held at the church, one hour before the funeral. Burial with military honors will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Dennis was born on February 1, 1939, in Browerville, MN to Leo and Gertrude (Boelter) Morawczynski. He grew up in Little Elk Township on a farm and attended the Pine Island Country School during his elementary years. He loved the outdoors and as a young man spent much time hunting and fishing, as well as helping on the family farm. He went on to Browerville High School and was active in athletics, FFA and other activities. He graduated from there in 1956. After graduation, Dennis enlisted in the navy and served for two years on the USS Saint Paul. After returning home from the navy, he met Carole, the love of his life in 1959 and they married in 1960. They shared a commitment to family and friends and built a wonderful life together for 56 years. They were blessed with three children, Kim who was born in 1961, Brian in 1962, and Jeff in 1966. They spent the first years of their married life in Crystal where they bought their first house and then moved to Ramsey in 1968. Dennis, along with Carole was a devoted and involved parent. He attended sporting events, concerts, programs, and anything else his kids were involved in. He was always proud of his kids, but instilled a sense of humility in each of them. He continued this devotion with his grandkids through the years as well. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family and created a dynasty of hunters. He loved deer camp and was known as the “General.” Whether he was telling stories of past hunts or sharing in the successes of each year, Dennis loved hunting with his family and friends. Dennis worked for Dain Rauscher from 1959 to 1997, but his heart never left his farm roots. He spent many weekends and summers helping his father on the farm.

In 1997, Dennis and Carole built a home where Dennis had grown up in rural Browerville, and for the next five years they divided their time between their new home and their place in Ramsey. In 2002 they moved full time to Browerville and together Dennis and Carole created in it a safe haven and gathering place for family and friends. Their home was a place Dennis’ stories of the old days flourished, where grandkids could be heard playing whiffle ball or football in the backyard, where countless games of cribbage and other cards were closely contested and where Minnesota teams were defended against all comers. It was a place for hayrides, smores around the fire, four-wheeler rides, trail breaking and most of all laughter and love. This was Dennis and Carole’s legacy for their kids and grandkids. In 2016, Dennis and his family faced their greatest challenge. Within four months Brian and Carole passed away. Dennis had taught his family about courage, strength and faith throughout their entire lives, but this was the time he taught by his example.

Dennis is survived by his daughter Kim (Dave) Davidson of Crookston; son Jeff Morawczynski of Colorado; daughter-in-law Lisa Morawczynski of Champlin; grandchildren, Tom, Sean, Joe, Katie, Dan, Jack, and Peter; sister Lorraine Woge of Eagle Bend and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Carole, son Brian, parents Leo and Gertrude Morawczynski, in-laws Clarence and Mabel Abrahamson and his brother Mark.
