Delbert Hansen, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, at the Lakewood Health System Nursing Home in Staples. Delbert was 81 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with a prayer service taking place at 7:30 PM, at the church. Visitation will continue one hour before mass the day of. Burial will take place at the St. Isadore Catholic Cemetery in Staples, MN.
Both visitations and Mass are taking place at the Church.
Delbert Elmer was born on December 16, 1939, the son of Theodore and Martha (Stowe) Hansen in Staples, Minnesota. He would continue to live in the small town until he entered manhood. Working side by side with his dad on the farm. He attended technical college to learn the trade of welding. Delbert worked at a machine shop in Minneapolis for a time, then moved closer to home and took a job at Northern Fabrication in Staples and later Hard Drives Road Construction Company.
On September 25, 1965, he was united in marriage to Bonita Kempe. Together they raised six children, and raised hogs, dairy and beef on their family farm. Delbert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was most proud of his children and being a father. Family dinners on Sundays were something he looked forward to.
Delbert was an avid hunter, raising and training hounds to hunt bobcat, coyote, fox and raccoon. He also had a love of horseback riding and training. He enjoyed playing smear, farkle and shooting darts.
He is survived by his wife Bonita; children, Todd (Mel) Hansen, Melanie (Alex) Altrichter, Mark (Wendy) Hansen, Susan (Wayne) Storry, Jackie (Chris) Goff all of staples; and 10 grandchildren, Rebecca, Meghan, Joe, Brent, Brooke, Jack, Jade, Sawyer, Scotlyn and Lincoln; one great grandson Oakley; Sister, Dorothy Halvorson of Browerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Duane; sister, Darlene, Nephew Rick and son Scott Theodore Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
