Deb Adamek, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 29 days.

September 22, 1955, a baby girl was born to Gerald and Orella (Dibble) Kraskey in Deer River, MN. Debra Sue (Kraskey) Adamek lived the first 18 years of her life in Ball Club and graduated from Deer River High School in 1974.

After graduating from high school, she attended Itasca Community College in the LPN program and graduated in 1976. While in nursing school she met her future husband, Larry. They were married in December of 1976 in Deer River. In 1979 Larry got a guidance counseling position in Long Prairie, and the family was off on a new adventure. Deb stayed home with their daughters, Tracy and Mindy.

After the girls were older Deb attended Alexandria Technical College and earned a word processing degree. She started working for the Todd County Sheriff’s Department in 1985 until 1991 as a dispatcher/jailer. In 1991 she accepted a position at Todd County Social Services. Also, in 1991 she was offered a position as a Deputy Court Administrator for the 7th District Judicial Court System. After working for the court system for several years she accepted a position at Banta publications. During the time at Banta Publications, she earned her Associates of Arts degree from Central Lakes College in Brainerd graduating with honors. After 11 years at Banta publications a new opportunity arose. Larson Optometry offered her a job as Optical Assistant and another new adventure began. Unfortunately, after working for Dr. Larson for 8 years, the ugly word cancer entered her life. In 2017 she was diagnosed and early 2018 was diagnosed with a 2nd type. Due to the cancers, she retired in 2017.

Deb was full of life and most of the time had a positive attitude with a little mischief for good measure. She was a girl scout leader for many years both in Grand Rapids and Long Prairie. She was proud of her daughters with their achievements in scouting. She was a high school gymnastics judge for 35 years and loved to go from school to school in December and January. Teaching CPR and First Aid Classes were very fulfilling and she taught for many years. Chaperoning for Long Prairie’s Minnesota’s Marching Ambassadors was a fun and rewarding experience. Traveling to different places with the band was a once in a lifetime memory. She was active in the American Lutheran Church and held a special place in her heart especially working on shoeboxes and meeting other people. Riding on their Honda Goldwing and seeing different parts of the United State was a favorite for both Deb and Larry.
