David William Ellis, 82 year old of Browerville, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Bethany on the Lakes in Alexandria.

A memorial service will take place at the Iten Funeral Home of Browerville, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the home. Burial will take place at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

David William Ellis was born on May 9, 1943 in  Marcus, Iowa, the son of  Clyde and Anna Ellis. He moved with his family to Minnesota in 1950, where they purchased a dairy farm and began building a life rooted in hard work and community. He graduated in 1961 from Clarissa High School, carrying with him the values of dedication and perseverance that would define his life.

Following high school, he proudly joined the United States Army. In 1965, he and his group traveled by ship across to Germany during his military service. After completing his time in the Army, he returned home to Minnesota and took over the family farm, continuing the legacy his family had begun years earlier.

David’s deep love for animals was evident in every part of his life. His home and farm were always alive with the presence of cats, dogs, and chickens, each one treated with kindness and affection. He spent his life milking dairy cows, taking pride not just in the work but in the quiet moments shared with the animals he loved so deeply. For David, tending to his cows wasn’t just a job, it was a calling that brought him peace and purpose.

His life was simple and quiet, yet full of purpose. He loved to stay busy, tending to his garden, visiting and checking in on neighbors, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. He had a special fondness for all old tractors.

A man with a huge and generous heart, he found great joy in sponsoring local organizations and churches. When he saw a need, he quietly stepped in to help, especially in supporting the local food shelf. His helpful and selfless nature touched many lives, often without recognition or fanfare.

On February 19, 2026, David passed away at the age of 82. He leaves behind his dear friends Kathryn Bradlich and Mariah Hendrickson; and many animals. He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Clyde and Anna; Brother Darryl; and an infant sibling.
