Cindy was born to David and JoAnn Hedlund on January 18, 1969 and graduated from Browerville High School in 1987. She was blessed with three beautiful children after experiencing an unfortunate loss of her son Robert Joseph Otte. She spent over 25 years working as a nursing assistant at the Long Prairie Nursing Home and most recently as a personal care attendant in a private home. She loved each resident as her own. She also spent many years working as an EMT in Browerville, MN. Cindy had a heart that was overflowing with love, and she used each ounce to show all those around her that love. Cindy experienced the proposal of a lifetime while on a motorcycle trip in Montana amongst the mountains and was set to marry the man of her dreams, Darrin Savoie, in September 2022 at one of her favorite resorts in MN.
Cindy loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was so proud of her children and all they have accomplished through the years. She spent much of her time on the lake teaching her children the art of fishing or finding a way to be close to her late father, who lived to fish. She enjoyed traveling and made so many joyful memories with family and friends over the years. Cindy could light up a room with her smile and her laugh. She had a special relationship with her parents and was fortunate to see them nearly every day. She spent many days with her mother shopping, canning, or just loving her. Cindy also enjoyed crafting, gardening, raising many different animals on her and Darrin’s hobby farm, and her dog, Remi. Cindy and Remi navigated rough waters as Cindy had multiple surgeries throughout her lifetime and each one continued to strengthen her.
Cindy is survived by her fiancé Darrin Savoie, her children: JoJo (Dave) Shangrow, Rachel (Matt) Tynio, and Bud (Taysha) Otte, as well as her soon to be bonus children: Sam (Britnie) Savoie and Amanda (Brandon) Savoie, her mother JoAnn Hedlund, her brother Davy Hedlund, grandchildren Luke and Josh Shangrow, and soon to be grandchildren: Edmond, Charley, Joey, Odin, Aurora, and Sebastian Savoie. She is also survived by her nephew Jake Hedlund and niece Emily Hedlund. Cindy is survived by many cousins including her cousin Jessica Slate, who she thought of as a sister.
Cindy is preceded in death by her son Robert Otte, father David Hedlund, and nephew Zachary Hedlund. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff on CICU at the St. Cloud Hospital that helped care for Cindy throughout her hospital stay. Words will never be enough to thank you for all that you did.
