Cindy Mae Rachuy was born on December 27, 1956, the daughter of Gary and Beverly (Woolhouse) Kreidler of Monticello, Minnesota. Cindy, being the oldest, would soon become the excited big sister to five more siblings. She graduated from Monticello High School, and a few weeks later married the love of her life, John Rachuy, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monticello on June 14, 1975. Their union would not only be blessed with almost fifty years of marriage, but a son, the apple of her eye, John II. John and Cindy moved to Long Prairie in 1978, where they purchased their own small business, NAPA Auto Parts, and worked side by side together every day. Cindy not only helped keep the business end of things running smoothly, Cindy also delivered parts all over the area to customers for over 40 years. In 2015, John and Cindy moved to John’s hometown of Eagle Bend, where they would spend the rest of their time together, enjoying small town living.
Cindy had a plethora of talents. She was eccentric in planning and organizing party events. She used her creative side to decorate elaborate party events, making sure all the decorations were just so, and each and every person attending felt special, loved and a lot of times had a gift to take home with them. Cindy was a deep thinker, caring and putting extra thought into friendships, activities and life. Her house and yard were filled with the things she loved: birds and bird houses, tea sets, dolls, flower gardens, and most of all quilts . To say she was a quilter is not giving her justice. She poured countless hours into each individual quilt that she created, with love. She belonged to the Prairie Quilters of Long Prairie and the Stitch and Prayer quilting group. Cindy would, at times, get behind in her own projects, because she would share her knowledge and experience to help others learn her passion. She gave relentlessly of herself to help others. When grandkids came along, she focused more on them, LJ and Charlotte, the new apples of her eye. Cindy always put others first, and if you had the opportunity to meet her, that is something you would have noticed right away. Her selflessness, loving personality and beautiful smile will be deeply missed.
On Sunday, December 22, 2024, Cindy took her last breath here on earth. She was 67 years old. She leaves behind her husband, John; son, John II; her grandchildren, John III (LJ), and Charlotte, as well as their mother, Leah DeBruycker; father, Gary Kreidler; siblings, David (Diane) Kreidler, Mark (Carol) Kreidler, Dawn Kreidler, Lori (Michael) Burke, and Scott Kreidler; sisters-in-law, Lonna Olson, June Fontaine and Dorothy Rachuy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Kreidler; and brothers-in-law: Dale Rachuy, Dene Rachuy, Leighton Fontaine, Sheldon Stevenson, and Wayne Olson.
