Cheryl Hayes age 74 of Clarissa, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021at the St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.  A memorial service will take place Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Clarissa. A visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service and also on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Cheryl was born on April 23, 1947 in Richmond, California. To Mervin and Edna (Tollagson) Lunning, Cheryl graduated from Hurley South Dakota High School in 1965. After graduating Cheryl moved to Clarissa and got married, the marriage later ended but she was blessed with four amazing children. Cheryl using her caring soul to be a in home daycare provider and also worked for the Central Todd County Care Center as a certified nursing assistant.  The last 21 years of her career, she worked side by side with her daughter Donna doing Childcare. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on trips, gardening, casino runs, baking, bingo, camping and spending time at the pond.  Cheryl also in her spare time would drive around the countryside, shopping and going to garage sales with her long time friend and neighbor, David Lorenz. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Edna; brother, Doug Lunning; sisters, Sandi Schiele and Janet Mosser; nieces, Kimberly and Dawn Lunning. She is survived by her children, Michelle Ritter (Troy) of West Branch, IA,. Donna  (Steve) Hinzmann of Browerville, Kim (Milo) Olson of Eagle Bend, Mike (Barb) Hayes of Browerville; grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Justin, Courtney, Kayla, Hailey, Colby, Crystal and Brock. Great-Granddaughter, Madison; and step-grandchildren, MJ, Brayden, and Jace; brother, Dennis (Joanne) Lunning, Woden, IA.
