Charles LeRoy Nelson passed away peacefully at St. Gabriel's Hospital on Thursday, August 22, 2024, Interments will be held on September 5, 2024.

Charles (Charlie) LeRoy Nelson was born September 5, 1933, in Minneapolis, MN. He attended Minneapolis Vocational High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Charlie joined the U.S. Postal Service.
While he was delivering mail he met, and married his wife of 66 years, Joan (Hansen). They were blessed with four sons.
Charlie was the past Commander of the American Legion Post 540 of Minneapolis, MN. After 35 years he retired from the Postal Service. Charlie and Joni then embarked on a new adventure as tour directors for Travel Easy of St. Cloud, MN.
Charlie was an easy-going, fun-loving man, quick with a one-liner and very witty. He loved all sports, but particularly loved to golf, bowl, fish, and play softball. As a true Minnesotan, he loved cheering on the Vikings and Twins.
For the past 33 years, Charlie and Joni divided their time between Texas and Coal Lake in Browerville, Minnesota. Having spent 25 of those years at the J-5 Park in Mission, Texas.
Charlie is survived by his wife Joan. Sons: Jeff (Cathy), Brad, Rob, John (Whitney). Grandchildren: Tierre (Marcia), Brian (Jeana), Kevin (Josie), Venessa (Nick), Chelsie (Kara)
Great Grandchildren: Ezra, Azia, Sofia, Nehemiah, Hannah, Devyn, Adele, Colbie, Vaughn, Anna, Bella, Sienna, Kylah, and Talia.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ruth (Newcomb) Nelson, brother, Jim Nelson, daughter in law, Cindy Nelson and great grandchild, Mahleek Webster.
Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery of Little Falls, MN on September 5, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., reception to follow at the VFW in Randall, MN.
Gone but never forgotten and always loved.
