Carol Jane (Loken) Van Hoever

Carol Van Hoever age 82 of Browerville, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie. 

A memorial service will take place in her honor on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Carol Jane was born on October 8, 1939, one of seven children to Henry and Alice Loken of Browerville, Minnesota.  Carol graduated from Browerville High School and soon after met Mr. Arnold Van Hoever. The couple were united in marriage in 1958. Their union was blessed with four beautiful children, Duane, Gregory, Lori and Dean. The couple raised their children in St. Paul.  Once the children grew to be school age, Carol started working at the local Snyder Drug Store as an assistant. She enjoyed the work and getting to meet and visit with neighbors, friends, and other community members.

When Carol was not working or taking care of her family, she loved to sit down with them to play a game of cards or sit in the peace and quiet of reading a good book. She was famous with family and friends for her cooking and baking delicious treats. She loved to flip through a new cookbook or wander through a local store for her newest find of an outfit or beautiful piece of jewelry. She attended the red Hat ladies’ activities and took part in the local quilt clubs. Growing up as the eldest child to a farm family, she new the value of hard work and taking time to pause and enjoy the little things. Carol enjoyed wintering in Florida and the last several years, visiting the seasonal campsite on Leech Lake. These times together have given her family so many warm memories of her. Her loving, caring, personality will be her legacy to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Carol went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the age of 82.

She leaves behind her children, Duane (Andrea) Van Hoever, Greg (Belinda) Van Hoever, Lori (Donald) Krienke, Dean (Beth) Van Hoever; fourteen grandchildren; eleven Great-Grandchildren; siblings, Marlene (Dick) Aune, Betty (Bruce) Sebek, Jerry (Lynn) Loken, Sandy (Dan) Berger; brother-in-law, Bill Reinartz. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Van Hoever; parents; and sister, Judy Reinartz.
