Audrey Mae (King) Severson Thompson Obituary

Audrey Thompson, 94 year old of Long Prairie, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.


A funeral service in her honor will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.


Audrey was born on February 1, 1931, in Long Prairie MN to Elsie and Reuben King, who instilled in her the values of faith, family, and resilience that shaped her life. Audrey remained in Long Prairie her entire life.


On June 25, 1950, Audrey married the love of her life Donald Severson, and together they built a warm and loving home on a farm northeast of Long Prairie where they raised their 5 children. After the sudden death of her beloved Donnie in 1980, she poured herself into her faith and family to get her through this time.


In 1986, Audrey found love again with Roger Thompson who had also tragically lost the love of his life. They shared life, laughter, and companionship until Roger’s passing in 2005. Through this marriage, Audrey welcomed five stepchildren.


Audrey was a devote Christian, whose faith and family were most important to her. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity Lutheran Church of Long Prairie where she was a member of Ladies Circle and the Trinity Quilting group. She loved baking, sewing, and any time spent with family. Her legacy is one of faith, compassion, strength, and unwavering love for her family.


Audrey is survived by her five daughters, Nancy Redlin, of St. Paul, Sandy (Jim) Doody, of Coon Rapids, Jenni (Lyle) Terwey, of Long Prairie, Marilyn (Loren) Freie, of Long Prairie, Donna (Mark) Becker, of Long Prairie;11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren (with three more on the way); four Stepchildren, Tyra Moos, of Coon Rapids, Carla (Bob) Clark of Eden Prairie, Brenda Arciniega, of Ventura, Ca, Marsha (Terry) Elliott,  of Fall Creek, Wi;10 step grandchildren and great grandchildren 


Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Reuben King; her husbands, Donald Severson and Roger Thompson; stepson Terry Thompson; step grandson Ben Vaughn; step great grandson Miles Clark; sisters Verna Gratton and Helen Larson; son-in-law, Dan Patsey.


She leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished forever by her children, grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.


Audrey’s message to her family is:


Please don’t be sad, I am not alone, Here I am with dad, in the arms of our loving Lord
