Arlinda was born April 28, 1948, in Germania Township, Todd County, to Archie & Nora (Hengemuhle) Bakken. She attended Country School District 97 in Germania Township and graduated from Clarissa High School in 1966. On May 10, 1969, Arlinda married LeRoy Thrun at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa. She worked at the National Bank of Alaska in Nome for 13 years and the Northern Lights Casino for 17 years.
A sweet and stubborn lady who loved and protected her family fiercely. She would do anything to help a person ~ family, friend, or stranger. She was funny and fun to be around. Her three boys were her pride and joy as were her grandchildren to follow. She just celebrated 51 years with the love of her life, LeRoy.
She enjoyed crafts and making quilts. She was in the process of making one for each grandchild's graduation. She loved to make sure every visitor was happy and well fed. Holidays were very important to her and she always made sure they were special. She loved Christmas and it showed. The house was always decorated from top to bottom, the table overflowing with dinner and endless baked goods, and presents were piled under the tree. Coffee, garage sales, casinos, playing Canasta with her boys (yes, she was very competitive!), worrying about her grandchildren, sitting on the front porch with her husband, visiting family and friends ~ all things that she loved and that we will miss dearly.
Arlinda is preceded in death by her parents; grandson Jamison Thrun in 2011; and brother Roger Bakken. She is survived by her husband LeRoy; children: Shannon (Kelly) Thrun of Fairbanks, AK, Robby (Kelly) Thrun of Nome, AK, Scott (Jessica) Thrun of Pequot Lakes; grandchildren: Christian Thrun, Quinten Thrun, Chance Thrun, Colten Thrun, Natalie Thrun, Cirsten Thrun, Kayden Thrun, Karley Thrun; siblings: Bruce (Fran) Bakken of Bertha, Clarice Fisk of Wadena; and sister-in-law Joan Bakken of Wadena.
