Anthony “Tony” Becker, age 67 of Long Prairie, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville, at 11:00 AM. Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 AM that morning, followed by a visitation until the start of the service. Burial will take place later that day at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Long Prairie, MN.

Anthony “Tony” John Becker was born on November 5, 1957, to Clarence and Theresa (Gogala) Becker in Browerville, Minnesota. As the seventh of twelve children, Tony learned the value of lending a helping hand from a young age. He graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1975. On July 29, 1978, he married Lori Richards, and together they were blessed with two children, Trish and Kevin. Though Tony and Lori later separated, they remained devoted to their family.

Immediately after high school, Tony began his career at Long Prairie Oil. He later joined Midwest Grease, a division of Farmers Union, where he dedicated many years before retiring in 2019. Even in retirement, Tony remained active, working part-time at Ace Hardware and volunteering at CentraCare in Long Prairie.

Tony was known for creating unique nicknames, playing pranks, and always having a stick of gum to share. He could always be counted on to have the right tool (and often a couple of backups), give solid advice on home projects, build anything from scratch, offer his time generously, and share a hearty laugh. An outdoorsman at heart, he loved hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. Tony also enjoyed keeping busy with tinkering, tending to his vegetable garden, and meticulously caring for his lawn. Among his many talents, his most cherished role was being a grandpa; nothing brought him greater joy than watching his grandchildren grow and thrive.

Tony is survived by his children, Trish (Bobby) Fischer and Kevin (Jennifer) Becker; grandchildren, Tanner and Logan Fischer, Joslynn, Cameron, and Dominic Becker; siblings, Margaret (Peter) Leither, Frank (Julie) Becker, Ray (Diane) Becker, Al Becker, Joyce Froh, Joe Becker, Jim (Mary) Becker, Steve (Sherri) Becker, Henry Becker, Ed Becker, and Mary (Brian) Pelzer; his special friend, Elaine Holscher; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Theresa Becker; and sister-in-law, Connie Becker.
