Alvin Moen was born on September 26, 1943, one of seven children to Grant and Elvera Moen of Garfield, Minnesota. On September 2nd, 1961, Alvin and Elaine (Kotz) were united in marriage. The two were blessed with sons Steven and Todd, and stepson Kyle.

Alvin was no stranger to hard work and at a young age started doing construction, eventually owning a successful construction company where his boys were taught the importance of hard work, integrity, and treating people fairly. When Alvin wasn't busy with the family construction business (or helping out a neighbor), he enjoyed raising livestock on the second-generation family farm. Alvin later became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous where he found help and continued on to help others for four decades. If Alvin saw a need, he was quick to lend a hand. Alvin most recently volunteered his time and talents to keep Woodman Cemetery grounds beautiful, oftentimes people could find Al on location there.

The coffee pot was always on at Al and Elaine's where neighbors and family stopped in often. Grandkids and Great Grandkids learned that Grandpa Al always had something to tease them about... learning at a young age to expect it and give it right back. (Which brought him great pleasure!)

Alvin passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa. He was 78 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; sister, Evangeline (Vangie); Grant and Elvera Moen, and Great Grandchild Caiden.  He is survived by his children, Steve (Maralee) Moen, Todd Moen, and Kyle (Cassie) Hanson; 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren

A memorial service in Alvin’s honor will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Clarissa, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church.  Burial will take place at a later date.
