Alvin Bous, 89, of Long Prairie, passed away on February 23, 2021 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Private family services for Alvin will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.
Alvin John Jr. was born November 19, 1931, in Long Prairie, to Alvin Sr. & Nellie (Collins) Bous. He graduated from the Long Prairie High School in 1949. Alvin was drafted into the US Army in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1955. While in the Army, Alvin worked as a mechanic and was quite a boxer. Upon his return, Alvin married Louise Anderson on September 8, 1956 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Cottage Grove for 34 years. In 1992, they moved to Long Prairie and lived on Lake Latimer for the last 28 years. Alvin worked at Oldsmobile, North Star Steel and owned his own service station, over the years he did mechanical work for many family and friends. Alvin was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the DAV.
Alvin is survived by his wife Louise, children: Alice (Mauricio Gonzalez) Stephens, John (Julie) Bous, Lisa (Steve) Kemp, Paul Bous, Philip (Suann Zine) Bous, and Amy Pavek; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Sylvia, Carol and James.
