Alcide (Al) Arthur Patnode

Alcide (Al) Patnode passed away April 28, 2024 at Lakewood Hospital in Staples. A Mass Christian Burial for Al will be held May 4, 2024 12:00 noon,  at Christ the King Catholic Church of Browerville, MN.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Christ the King Cemetery of Browerville. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the VFW of Eagle Bend, MN.

Alcide “Al” Arthur Patnode came into the world on a blustery January 16th, in 1939. He was one of three children of Arthur and Agnes (Oeffling) Patnode of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Al graduated from De LaSalle High School in 1957.  In 1960, Al met his future wife at her family’s restaurant. From the moment they met he knew she was the one. After a time of dating, Al married Miss Virginia Balderston. Their union was blessed with five children, Vicki, Mark, Skip, Mary, and Christopher.

In 1972, the couple and their family moved to Clarissa where they purchased a farm and raised their family. 

Al lived and breathed truck driving and farming ~ those were his two passions. During the week he drove a semi truck for the Teamsters Union and was home on weekends to help his family with the farm. He was hardworking and very strong-willed, which at times did not always help things run smoothly. For many years the family milked dairy cows and were grain farmers. As they aged, they stopped milking cows and raised beef cows.

Al is survived by his wife, Virginia Patnode; children, Vicki (Russ) Pooler, Mark Patnode, Arthur “Skip” (Anita) Patnode, Mary (significant other, Gabi Lizagarra) Patnode; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Christopher Patnode.
