Albina T (Drayna) Greenwood

Elbina Greenwood, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in Eagle Bend. Elbina was 100 years young.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clarissa at 3:00 PM. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church. Burial will immediately follow at the church Cemetery.

Albina Greenwood entered our world on December 20, 1920, the daughter of Peter and Christina (Cebuella) Drayna of Hartford Township.  She finished her elementary, high school and then attended earned a teaching degree.  Albina was united in marriage to Roy Gjerstad for twenty-five years, before Roy passed away. Their union was blessed with nine children, Vivian, Kathleen, Steve, Jerry, Roberta, Carol, Mary Jo, Rita and Mark. In 1976 Albina married Erwin Bense, joining the family. Sadly he passed away 8 years later from cancer. On February 20, 1986, Albina and Juel Greenwood were united in marriage at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Clarissa, their busy family did not leave any dull moments and created a lifetime of memories.

Albina used her hard work ethic to provide for her family, whether it was having fresh baked cakes as an after-school snack when the kids got off the bus or growing vegetables in her garden to provide for her family and community. Albina had a servant heart, which she poured into her family, church and community. When she was serving others, she spent time growing gorgeous flowers and embroidering quilts, creating beautiful masterpieces that she gave as gifts to each of her children. Juel and Albina spent many hours together working their vegetable garden and working together on puzzles. Albina’s faith, family and community were so important to her, her memory will be deeply missed by all whom met her.

Albina passed away at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 29, 2021. She was 100 years young. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Gjerstad and son Mark Gjerstad.
