Albie was born October 2, 1932, on the family farm in Little Sauk Township, to Al H. and Clara (Tabatt) Notch. He served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957. In 1971 he purchased a farm 3 miles South East of Eagle Bend/Rose City where he farmed, and began hauling bulk milk. In 1979 Albie bought a milk truck and began hauling as an independent for Land O’ Lakes in Browerville, MN. He continued driving until January 4, 1992 when he suffered a stroke.
Albie married Marlys Pearson on February 1, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa, Minnesota. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He enjoyed old-time music, reading, and playing cards.
Albie was preceded in death by his parents, Al H. and Clara Notch, and brothers, Donald Notch, Richard Notch, and Ralph Notch. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marlys, 4 daughters, Marie (DeWayne) Groneberg of Wheaton, Debra (Douglas) Wilke of Becker, Janet Notch of Rogers, Donna Mae (Reed) Switters of Eagle Bend; 8 Grandchildren, Davis Groneberg, Lindsey Groneberg, DeAnna (Wilke) Kruchten, ReNita (Wilke) Henderson, Kelsey (Wilke) Rodgers, Kaitlin Wilke, Mackenzie Thiel, and Marly Thiel; 2 Step Grandchildren, Justin Thiel, and Holly Thiel; 5 Great Grandchildren, Mia Kruchten, Sophie Kruchten, Audyn Henderson, Everett Henderson, Kasen Rodgers; 6 Siblings, Dr. Herb Notch, Doris (Ed) Pachan, Dorene (Lawrence) Lenk, Bernice (Ed) Polak, Mary Alice (Vince) Lenk, and Alvin (Diane) Notch, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be his Grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Donald and Rebecca Jackson, Kevin and Diane Iliff, Kris and the late Donald Ahrens and the Great People of Eagle Bend and the Surrounding Communities who have so graciously watched over Albie for the past several years as he continued his route around town collecting cans.
