Alan Perish passes away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. He was 76 years young.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Iten Funeral Home Chapel in Browerville. A time of remembrance will take place at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. After a time of fellowship a burial will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle, MN.

Alan, a fourth-generation farmer, spent his childhood growing up on the family dairy farm in rural Browerville, MN. After his father passed away, he would eventually take over the farm and operate until his retirement. During his time as a farmer, Alan became very active as an advocate for farmers’ rights and the preservation of family farms in rural America. Alan’s advocacy was conducted in his own backyard as a president and manager of Hartford Township, roles that he continued through this year. He volunteered countless hours, won too many awards to count, and has been constantly recognized amongst his peers for his relentless and thankless work in agriculture. Through all this, Alan's loving wife Karen was by his side at every event, through thick and thin. 

Alan’s work to improve the lives of those in his community and rural America was accomplished through various organizations at the local, state, and national level. In recognition of his life-long work, Alan was awarded the Orville L. Freeman award for Distinguished Service to Greater Minnesota. Alan, being someone that never wanted to stop working or give up the fight, created the Alan D. Perish Trust. This organization will carry on his work by supporting the Minnesota DFL, The Farmer’s Union, and the Land Stewardship Trust for years to come.

Alan was preceded in death by wife Karen, mother Ione, and sister Lee. Alan is survived by brother Edward, brother Gerald, sister Darlene, brother Roy, sister Lora, and nieces and nephews.
