Myrtle Holt Obituary

  Myrtle was born on October 27, 1933, to James and Estella (Hammond) Gadbaw at their home in Burleene Township and baptized on March 17, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Bend. She was united in marriage with Wesley Holt on February 17, 1953, at the Eagle Bend United Methodist Church. They were prouddowntown residents of Clotho until they moved down the roadto the farm in February 1964 where they lived and farmed until they retired from farming in August, 1988. ­­ In addition to homemaking and her daily work on the farm, Myrtle worked various other jobs. She was a waitress at Dahlman's Café in Long Prairie, worked at Hart's Press, was a lunch lady at the Long Prairie school and ironed and mended clothes for others. Her hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, bible study and card club. She also enjoyed her FATS group, Ladies Aid, being a Sunday School Teacher, funeral committee, reading, word search, cooking and baking, and dancing. Myrtle loved spending time with and caring for her family. She loved singing "You are My Sunshine" to her grandchildren. Wesley and Myrtle wintered in McAllen, Texas, for 20 years and made many long lasting friendships there.    Myrtle passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the Long Prairie Nursing Home in Long Prairie with lots of family by her side. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, James and Estella; step father Ernie Steffen; sisters Myra Gadbaw, Verna Johnson, Elnora Holt, and Wilma Wendel; great-grandchildren, infant twins, Noah and Sophia Levin. She is survived by her husband, Wesley Holt of Long Prairie; daughters Janet & Vernon Miller of Jefferson, South Dakota, Nyla & Pat Kraemer of Long Prairie; sons Gary & Mary Jo (Latour) Holt of Kimball, Larry & Karen J. Holt of Long Prairie, Douglas & Karen (Graves) Holt of Long Prairie; 15 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren; brother Arthur & Shirley (Maland) Gadbaw of Eagle Bend.
